Channel NewsAsia Feature: How Our Wind Farm Is Engineering a Greener Future

As COP30 drove significant climate action forward, Channel NewsAsia (CNA) spotlighted Vena Energy’s Tolo Wind Project in South Sulawesi, demonstrating how Indonesia is transforming green energy ambitions into tangible results. The project was featured as part of the network’s sustainability coverage during the conference.

Indonesia possesses significant untapped potential for wind power, and the Tolo Wind Project stands as a key example of how this resource can be harnessed to support national energy goals.

The feature highlighted how our 72 MW Tolo Wind Project, which began operations in 2019, can generate more than 268,000 megawatt hours of clean electricity annually – enough to power more than 326,000 households, contributing to reduced emissions and a more resilient national grid.

Rudy Sembiring, Head of Indonesia at Vena Energy, discussed the company’s plans to expand the facility in response to a tender from PLN, Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company, for the next phase of development. If Vena Energy is successful in the tender process, construction could potentially begin as early as late 2026.

Wahyudin Beta, Tolo Wind Asset Manager, explained how the facility’s 20 turbines convert wind energy into electricity that flows through the farm’s substation for efficient transmission.

The Tolo Wind Project demonstrates the growing momentum behind green energy development across Southeast Asia. As governments and industries look beyond COP30, initiatives like our Tolo Wind Farm underscore the practical steps being taken today to engineer a greener future.
