[Taiwan; 16 September 2025] In a fitting tribute to a decade of commitment to Taiwan’s energy transformation, Vena Energy, the renewable energy arm of Vena Global Group Pte Ltd (“Vena Group”) and a leading green energy solution provider across the Asia-Pacific region received its first Taiwan Sustainability Action Award. At the 2025 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action and Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA), organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), Vena Energy was honored with the Bronze Award in the Corporate SDG15 category for its “Yizhu Power Plant – Coexisting for a Sustainable Future” initiative.
Out of 503 submissions, Vena Energy stood out as the only green energy company to be recognized at this year’s ceremony. The award was accepted by Wencheng Lee, Head of Taiwan at Vena Energy.
Wencheng stated, “Guided by our philosophy of ‘Respect for Local Communities, Coexistence with Nature,’ Vena Energy has transformed a former salt field into a pioneering site where green energy production and ecological conservation thrive side by side, allowing sunlight to breathe new life into the land. Twenty years ago, the site of Yizhu Power Plant was an abandoned salt flat. Today, we have built a solar facility here that turns salt flats into a green energy area. With care and stewardship, we will ultimately return this land intact, so that it can continue to tell new stories.”
Yizhu Power Plant: A Model of Green Energy and Ecology in Harmony
Located in Yizhu, Chiayi, the Yizhu Power Plant spans 80 hectares and is designed with the vision of “coexistence between green energy and ecology.” Thirty percent of the site is designated as ecological ponds and artificial islands, creating habitats for wetland bird species such as the black-faced spoonbill. The remaining 70% hosts nearly 200,000 solar panels, providing a stable supply of clean green power.
The facility also houses Taiwan’s first privately operated Renewable Energy Eco-Education Center, themed “The Solar Realm,” showcasing the transformation from salt fields and fishponds to renewable energy. Since its opening in 2020, the center has welcomed more than 4,000 visitors, promoting environmental education and fostering community engagement.
In addition, Yizhu Power Plant collaborates with the Kaohsiung Wild Bird Society and Tunghai University on long-term ecological monitoring and conservation strategies to protect wetland biodiversity. Beyond producing green power, Yizhu Power Plant stands as a demonstration site for environmental education, community integration, and industrial transformation, embodying the spirit of sustainability and harmony between industry, nature, and local communities—contributing to a new chapter in Taiwan’s energy transition.
A Decade of Commitment to a Sustainable Future
The Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards recognize impactful and scalable initiatives across the region that advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s judging panel brought together international scholars and business leaders, highlighting the award’s global vision and influence.
Since establishing its Taiwan office in 2015, Vena Energy has developed multiple renewable energy plants across the island, actively advancing its ESG commitments through concrete actions. Receiving the TSAA for the first time underscores not only Vena Energy’s expertise in energy transition but also its tangible achievements in aligning renewable energy development with ecological conservation.
Looking ahead, Vena Energy will continue to deepen its roots in Taiwan, working alongside stakeholders to build a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
