Vena Group has signed a partnership agreement with Nakadomari Town, Aomori Prefecture, and Blancdieu Hirosaki FC to promote education, sport and community development initiatives under the theme, “Creating the Future of the Community Through the Power of Wind”. The agreement aims to contribute to the revitalisation of the local community and support future generations through initiatives jointly undertaken by the three parties.
Vena Group has operated the 47 MW Nakasato Wind Project in Nakadomari since 2022. The project comprises 13 wind turbines and generates enough clean energy annually to power approximately 22,000 households. Since the development phase, Vena Group has advanced the project in line with its commitment to coexisting with local communities, maintaining close engagement with local stakeholders and delivering initiatives that contribute to the community’s sustainable development.
To date, these efforts have included supporting the preservation and maintenance of the Miyakoshi House Annex and Garden, together with related academic research, as well as the construction and operation of “Yurapark”, a multi-purpose hot spring facility that opened in 2024. Vena Group has also supported a range of local development initiatives, including smart agriculture and aquaculture projects.
Vena Group has also worked to enhance awareness and appreciation of local cultural heritage and community assets, including the Miyakoshi House Annex and Garden, while creating opportunities to foster deeper, longer-term connections with the region. As part of these efforts, Vena Group has delivered an environmental education programme that includes visits to the Nakasato Wind Project and dialogue sessions with the Mayor of Nakadomari, welcoming high school students from both within and outside Aomori Prefecture.
In recognition of these pioneering community engagement initiatives, undertaken in partnership with Nakadomari Town, the Nakasato Wind Project received the FY2024 Community-Based Renewable Energy Project Badge from the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy under Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Vena Group has also built a strong partnership with Blancdieu Hirosaki FC, a football club based in the Tsugaru region, since 2021, supporting children’s health and wellbeing while strengthening community engagement through sport. In Nakadomari, Vena Group and Blancdieu Hirosaki FC have held annual football clinics and renewable energy workshops for primary school children through after-school childcare programmes.
Through the newly signed tripartite agreement, the three parties will expand their collaboration into a broader range of areas, including education, sport and community events.
Building on its existing efforts to promote tourism and create opportunities for people to develop lasting connections with Nakadomari, Vena Group will work with Nakadomari Town and Blancdieu Hirosaki FC to further support the development of young people through education and sport, promote the health and wellbeing of local residents, and contribute to a vibrant and sustainable future for the community.
To commemorate the signing of the agreement, the three parties held a Children’s Football Clinic and SDGs Quiz Event for primary school students in Nakadomari, as well as a friendly football match between Blancdieu Hirosaki FC and the Vena Group futsal team.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Vena Group and Blancdieu Hirosaki FC for entering into this Partnership Agreement on Education and Sports Promotion with Nakadomari town. As Japan faces the challenges of a declining population, highlighted by the so-called ‘2040 Problem’, I believe that, for Nakadomari Town to remain a sustainable community not only for the next 20 or 30 years but well beyond, it is essential that we address these challenges through close collaboration between local government and businesses and organisations that are deeply rooted in the community. Through this agreement, we are committed to further strengthening initiatives that support the growth and development of our children and enhance the vitality of the wider community.
Toyomitsu Hamadate, Mayor of Nakadomari Town
We are delighted to have signed this partnership agreement. We have built meaningful relationships with the people of Nakadomari Town through football clinics for local children and educational programmes on wind power generation over the years. What began as individual community engagement activities has evolved into a shared commitment to making a greater contribution to the region. We are therefore very pleased to take this important next step through the signing of this agreement. We believe that our mission is to energise communities through the power of sport and inspire children to dream big and embrace new challenges. Through this partnership, all three partners will work together across a broad range of initiatives, and we look forward to contributing to the continued development and vitality of Nakadomari Town.
Yuki Nishizawa, Representative Director, Blancdieu Hirosaki FC
We are delighted to enter into this partnership with Nakadomari Town and Blancdieu Hirosaki FC. As a renewable energy company with a long-term presence in Nakadomari, we believe that supporting the growth and development of the young people who will shape the future of the community is just as important as providing clean energy. Through this agreement, we hope to create more opportunities for children to learn, grow and thrive through education and sport. Together with Nakadomari Town and Blancdieu Hirosaki FC, we look forward to building on our partnership and advancing initiatives that contribute to a vibrant, sustainable future for the community.
